Leica’s Latest Watches Are Designed To Show Off Nature’s Elegance

Leica may be revered for its iconic cameras, but its craftsmanship extends well beyond photography. The brand continues to make its mark in the world of horology with the introduction of two striking new models: the Leica ZM 1 Urban Green and Leica ZM 2 Urban Green. These timepieces blend technical mastery with a deep appreciation for nature-inspired aesthetics.

As their names suggest, both models feature a captivating “fumé noir” green dial, a gradient design that transitions from deep black at the edges to a rich forest green at the center. This elegant finish is a signature of Leica’s ZM series and reflects the brand’s intent to “make a statement about nature’s elegance in form and function.” The look is at once modern and timeless, a perfect balance between utilitarian precision and subtle luxury.

Each dial is protected by domed sapphire glass, ensuring exceptional clarity and scratch resistance. The indices are diamond-cut for sharp precision, further reinforcing the attention to detail expected from Leica. Both models are offered with a stainless steel Milanese strap for a refined and versatile look, but customers can also opt for black calf leather or black alligator leather straps, each accented with green stitching that ties back to the dial’s colorway.

Mechanically, the Urban Green editions carry forward the DNA of the original ZM 1 and ZM 2 watches first introduced in 2022. Like their predecessors, they feature Leica’s patented push-crown mechanism, a nod to the iconic shutter release of Leica cameras. It allows for intuitive interaction, whether you’re winding the watch or adjusting the time.

Inside, both watches feature hand-wound mechanical movements developed in-house by Leica, showcasing the brand’s commitment to traditional watchmaking. Every component is hand-assembled, highlighting the meticulous craftsmanship that defines the ZM collection.

The two models differ in complexity. The Leica ZM 1 Urban Green offers a more minimalist layout, making it ideal for those who appreciate understated sophistication. The Leica ZM 2 Urban Green, meanwhile, includes additional complications and design flourishes that elevate the overall experience for horology enthusiasts.
